What are you thinking now? Of course, considering that you are reading this article, you may be thinking about sex. But it's likely that you'll think of it anyway. It is reported that men think of "sex" every seven seconds. But is it really the case?
Thinking about sex every 7 seconds means more than 500 times per hour, and more than 8000 times during 16 hours of waking time per day, while sleeping time can only be imagined.
However, there is no real research to support this commonly used data. Instead, people often attribute this mysterious matter to research by the Kinsey Institute, which shows that the frequency of men thinking about sex every 7 seconds is simply exaggerated. Among the men and women surveyed by researchers Kinsey, 54% of men reported thinking about sex several times a day, 43% thought about it several times a week or several times a month, and another 4% averaged less than once a month. At the same time, 19% of women say they think about sex once or several times a day, 67% think about it several times a week or a month, and the remaining 14% average less than once a month.
It should be pointed out that the respondents in this study included people of all ages. Although some "sexually active" grandparents are not excluded, various reasons lead to elderly couples generally sleeping separately, which is greatly related to the answer "I hardly want to have sex.". Moreover, this study does not address the essential issue of "once or several times a day" (which accounts for a significant proportion). Last but not least, if researchers ask you how often you currently think about sex, how accurate is your estimate?
Due to the lack of a good way to observe the human brain throughout the month and accurately determine what they are thinking every day, Ohio State University recently adopted a different approach to this issue. They equipped a group of 18 to 25 year olds with hand-held counters to track their thoughts about sex, food, and sleep.
As a result, the average male thinks about sex 19 times a day, equivalent to 1.26 times an hour. The frequency of thinking about food and sleeping is 18 and 11 times a day, respectively. In contrast, for women, sex is not what they desire most. "They only think about sex 10 times a day, and they think about food 15 times a day and sleep 8.5 times a day, respectively.".
Therefore, the idea of "thinking every 7 seconds" is sheer nonsense.
