Colds are very common in clinical practice, and normal adults also catch colds 1-2 times a year. For some patients with kidney disease who are physically weak, colds are even more common, and it is easy to catch a cold if the weather changes or they are not paying attention to it. The cold is also an inducement to exacerbate kidney disease, and many people use drugs indiscriminately in the pursuit of a quick and good cold. Today, let's take a look at how renal patients should cope with colds and how to prevent them.
1. Prophase of cold
When you feel slightly unwell and feel like you're about to catch a cold, you can boil ginger and take it while it's hot. After taking it, pay attention to keeping warm, take more rest, and drink more water; Or wash the Banlangen granules with hot water; It can play a role in early prevention and treatment of colds.
2. Use of traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations for cold
Most colds begin with viral colds, and the use of antibiotics does not work, there is no evidence of bacterial infection, and patients will not be given antibiotics. In order to alleviate cold symptoms, we also use traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations to treat colds in the clinical nephrology department.
If you have the symptoms of cold, stuffy nose, clear runny nose, heavy body acid, cough and thin sputum, the traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations with better effects are: Shangfengting Capsule, Zhengchaihuyin Granules, Fenghan Ganmao Granules, Ganmao Qingre Granules, etc
If the fear of cold is not obvious, sweating, yellow nasal discharge, sore throat, and dry mouth, it is suitable for use: Shufeng Jiedu Capsule, Xiaochaihu Granules, Qingkailing Capsule (oral liquid), Shuanghuanglian oral liquid, etc
For influenza, Jinhua Qinggan Granule has a good effect.
In addition, during a cold, the most important thing is to pay attention to taking more rest, drinking more water, and keeping warm.
3. Use of cold antibiotics
If the cold symptoms are serious, or the body temperature is greater than 38.5 ℃, or the symptoms of using the above traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations do not improve, you should go to the hospital for examination, blood routine test and C-reactive protein test.
As we have just said, most colds are viral colds, and antibiotics do not work. The purpose of our laboratory tests is to see if there is a bacterial infection. If there is an increase in blood routine white blood cells, neutrophils, and C-reactive protein, indicating a bacterial cold, we will only use antibiotics.
For patients with renal disease, commonly used antibiotics include cephalosporins of the second and third generations, and macrolides.
The cephalosporin generation is generally not used because of its relatively high renal toxicity. Representative drugs of cephalosporins are as follows:
The representative drugs of macrolides are azithromycin
4. Common Mistakes of Colds
Once many people discover that they have a cold, they take various cold medicines indiscriminately, or even go directly to hang water for infusion. This is a major taboo for cold medication in patients with kidney disease.
Many western cold medicines on the market contain antipyretic and analgesic drugs, and their ingredients are similar. Some people take several cold medicines together in order to seek good and quick results, virtually increasing the drug dose, significantly increasing the incidence of adverse reactions and increasing the risk of kidney damage. Our nephrology department generally does not recommend that patients with kidney disease use cold medicines that contain antipyretic and analgesic ingredients.
If it is indeed a bacterial infection, unless it is a serious infection, we do not advocate infusion treatment for patients with common bacterial colds, but oral antibiotics are sufficient.
5. Prevention of colds
We should note that the prevention of colds is the top priority! Don't always start worrying after catching a cold. This anxious effort should be used in ordinary times.
Most colds are not cured by drugs, but we heal ourselves. Improving our own resistance is fundamental, which requires us to do the following:
1. Strengthen physical exercise regularly. People with kidney disease have low levels of activity, and many people are not unable to exercise, but are afraid of exercise or unwilling to devote energy. Adhering to 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day does not worsen the condition, but can enhance the physique and improve disease resistance.
2. Balanced nutrition, reasonable diet. Malnutrition increases the risk of infection, and if your hospital has a professional nutritionist, the nutritionist won't let you completely skip meat and eat only radishes and cabbage.
3. Work and rest regularly. Frequent staying up late, high mental pressure, and poor sleep quality can also lead to poor resistance. Patients with kidney disease need to understand the combination of work and rest, and ensure good rest time.
4. Be cheerful. Often feeling low and angry, and over time, resistance will also decrease. Ensuring a cheerful mood is a prerequisite for maintaining health.
As long as we understand and use these preventive measures well, we can definitely reduce the suffering of colds.
