For men, eating two handfuls of nuts a day is a simple way to improve sexual function. A new Spanish study shows that men can improve their sexual function by eating two handfuls of nuts every day.
The University of Tarragona in Spain recruited 83 male participants. Participants were divided into two groups: one group continued to eat normally, and the other group added 60 grams of nuts every day, including walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds. The experiment lasted 14 days. At the beginning and end of the study, everyone completed a questionnaire, including 15 questions about sexual function and erectile status. Participants also collected blood and semen samples for biomarker testing.
The results showed that adding walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and other nuts to western food can improve men's sexual desire and sexual function. The study also found that the nut diet can increase the number of sperm by nearly 20%, sperm vitality by 5%, sperm survival rate by 6%, and sperm morphology by 1%.
In addition, eating nuts can significantly reduce the sperm DNA fragment rate, which is a new indicator to evaluate sperm quality and fertility, and an important parameter to diagnose male infertility.
